THE BIRTH OF HAMADA TEA
At the age of 40, Masaharu Hamada retires from his job at Chiran Agricultural Coooperative Assosiation and pioneers Hamada Tea. Working from a rented factory. his commitment to “Serve only the finest Kagoshima tea” catches the attention of the prestigious Shizuoka Prefecture tea market. Masaharu’s attitude and the taste of his tea were rated highly in the Shizuoka Prefecture tea market.
1975
FORMATION OF HAMADA INDUSTRIES CO. LTD.
Riding on the wave of increased demand and popularity within Japan, Masaharu Hamada incorporates Hamada Industries Co. Ltd., solidifying his foothold in the green tea industry.
1980
EXPANDING OPERATIONS
A new tea collection and blending facility is established to accommodate the growing volume of tea leaves being handled, marking a significant expansion in operations.
2000
RETAILING
To create a store for Chiran tea products that patrons could easily visit, “Ocha no Hamada” is constructed. Retailing at full-scale begins.
2016
ACHIEVING JAS ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
Hamada Industries responds to the global demand for certified organic products by acquiring JAS Organic certification and FSSO 22000.
2022
VENTURING INTO NEW MARKETS
Marking a milestone in Hamada Industries’ journey, the company launches its first international subsidiary in India, aptly named “CHIRAN”. An homage to our roots, this move introduces Indian tea connoisseurs to the joy of authentic, organic, award-winning Japanese tea from Kagoshima.
Recognizing India’s vibrant culture and growing affinity for global flavours, CHIRAN is a testament to the shared love for tea.
